Crew members of LNG vessels are required to hold a Certificate of Competence in Basic Training (T04) and a Certificate of Competence in Advanced Training (T05) in Cargo Handling on LNG vessels

1. Certificate of Competence in Basic Training for Cargo Handling of Liquefied Gas Vessels (T04, referred to as LPG-based)

Application Requirements:
Already hold a liquefied base;
Possess 3 months' seniority in liquefied gas vessel service or 1 month's seniority plus 3 cargo loading and unloading operations (the latter is more difficult to regulate and is usually performed on the basis of 3 months' seniority).
Other Notes
Certificate exchange rules: old certificates (e.g. A06, A07) can be directly exchanged for new certificates.
Re-validation Requirement: LNG high expiration within 5 years prior to the expiration date need to meet the 3-month LNG vessel seniority and complete the knowledge update, otherwise re-training is required.
Product license requirement: Proprietary products such as cargo containment system and fuel supply system for LNG carriers need to meet the requirements of China Classification Society (CCS) license list.
Conclusion: Crew members need to hold “LNG-based” or “LNG-high” according to their position, while the ship's equipment and systems need to meet the CCS proprietary product license requirements.
